How to deploy google hangout plugin through Active directory
Group policy
To deploy any google chrome extension follow the below
procedure
1. Download google chrome Administrative template
from below sites
https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/187202?hl=en
Downloadable file name as below
2. Extract the policy_template.zip
3. Open the windows folder from extracted files,
and copy “en-us” folder and chrome.admx
File to your Domain controller
4. Copy the files you copied from step 4 to C:\Windows\SYSVOL\domain\Policies\PolicyDefinitions
On your domain controller, if you don’t find
the folder Policydefinitions just create one
5. Open the Group policy Management Editor from your
domain controller
6. Create a new group policy
7. Navigate User
configuration/Policies/Administrative Templates/Google Chrome/ Extensions
From Group policy edit window
8. Click on the policy highlighted in yellow,
9. Enable it and click on the show button
1. On the value field you have to enter the
extension id; chrome wb store address like below
nckgahadagoaajjgafhacjanaoiihapd;https://clients2.google.com/service/update2/crx
extension id you can get from your browser
bar , when you click on the extensions from web store
eg: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/grammarly-for-chrome/kbfnbcaeplbcioakkpcpgfkobkghlhen
the one highlighted in bold is the
extension id.
2. Apply the group policy to user OU or domain
When user login to next time, they will see
a pop up to login to that extensions
